Advice to everyone to surrender to Him who saved everyone during praLaya

AzhwAr does upadESa that He alone saves you when you are in danger.

When there was praLaya, where all the worlds submerged inside the water, He put all the created beings, sentient as well as non-sentient inside His stomach in order to protect them from being destroyed. He holds tiruchakra in His hand to protect them. ‘auLAr tiruchakkarattAl ahal viSumbum nilanum iruLAr vinai keDa SengOl naDAvundir’.

But Oh! Fools! you are unaware of this fact. you think the other gods worshipped by our enemies are able to protect you! In fact these other gods were also inside His stomach during praLaya! Hence they are unable to help you in any way. Therefore stop worshipping them but worship our swAmi who certainly is the only rakShaka. If you forget the help done, you are worse than a dog. ‘nanri marappAr nAyinum kEDAvAr’.

The deluge water was flowing profusely spreading even the sky. At that time it was our swAmi who put all the worlds and beings inside His tiruvayiru in order to protect them. Then during creation He put them all out from His tiruvayiru. There is no one who was not inside and who was not brought out. Hence all are called ‘echchil dEvar’. The gods like—Siva, brahma and rudra also belong to the same category. It was the merciful Lord who has saved us all.

Here is our swAmi who has rescued rudra (who has third eye), brahma (who always chant vEdas) and indra (who rides an airAvata) from being submerged in deluge water by placing them inside His stomach. you should sing His praise and worship Him instead of doing so the other dEvas.

veTTrippOr kaDal araiyan— When the sea god transcends his limit there is no one to control him. Hence he is called so.

When there was mahApraLaya all the created worlds were about to get ruined. BagavAn took compassion on the jeevas and put them all in to His tiruvayiru in order to save them. He who is like a ripe fruit and the Lord of riShis deserve to be worshipped by all.

muzhangoLi SEr tiruvayiru—the tiruvayiru which makes noise as they (worlds) enter into it.

There was mahApraLaya. All the dEvas, human beings and other jeevas suffered destruction. emberumAn took mercy on them and swallowed them. They felt safe inside His tiruvayiru. When the time came for creation, He put them all out as before. Oh! Fools! Think with gratitude the help done by Him. If You want to return His help just chant His names. That is all.

The mahApraLaya is a time when there existed nothing. The air looked eerie with ghouls and ghosts. At that time like a compassionate mother He puts them all in His tiruvyairu till it is time to safely release them out. Instead of chanting His names, Oh! Baktas! you worship some mean dEvata and praise him. It is like doing all hounour and pooja to a seat instead of mother who is right in front of you, very affectionate and loving.

peTTra tAi irukka maNaiveNNeer ATTudirO-- 'maNai' refers to all insentient objects. ''venneer ATTudal' refers to the older time practice. As soon the girl delivers a baby she and the child are given a good hot water bath. But since this practice was fraught with many difficulties, in later period it was the practice to give bath to a 'wooden plank' (maNai). This practice still in some parts of kEraLa even now. Even nammAzhwAr in tiruvASiriyam says 'eenrALirukka maNai neerATTi'.

He, in order to protect the jeevas, swallowed them, so that the deluge water will not swallow them. The dEvas, dAnavas, human beings, animals and all other objects are thus saved from the great danger. Oh! Fools! Whether you think of Him or not i don’t care. What i ask you to is not to think of those fellows who don’t think of Him even for a moment. Those moments when you don’t think of them are precious.

periyavAchchAn piLLai— ‘jnAnamum vENDA, vaiShNava sahavAsamum vENDA, avaiShNavarhaLai ninaiyAdE pOdu inidu engai’.

The calm and quiet karungaDal during praLaya swelled and flowed even beyond aNDas. At that time emberumAn thought, there is no better place to keep the jeevas and lOkas than my stomach’. He seized them all and put them inside the tiruvayiru. Thus did He save You even when You did not ask. Those fellows who don’t think with gratitude our swAmi are very mean indeed.

When the deluge water overflowed to submerge all the lOkas and pushed even aNDa Bitti down, He seized all the creatures, jeevas lOkas etc., and put them in His tiruvayiru. Thus He saved us all. Think of this mEGavaNNa, maNi vaNNa, kuDandai nAtha and kaNNa. Sing and dance with ecstasy.

uNDu otta tiruvayiru—After eating all the creations one should say His stomach was full and bulged. But no. He has no change and remains as before.

tirumangai AzhwAr, who knows BagavAn as He is and His chEShTitas as they are, has sung these pASuras on how He eats all the lOkas and spits them out in order to protect the jeevas. This upakAraka should be understood and meditated upon. Those who read this tirumozhi will go to paramapda to enjoy bliss forever.
